Frame Quilting Basics

Lee Ellsworth is repeating this popular class with a daytime and evening session. Join us for another opportunity to learn the basics of frame quilting. Class will be conducted on our new Joy Magic Frame with the TinLizzie 18S. Class is open to all frame owners or those interest in seeing what it is all about.

You will learn about: Preparation of your quilt back, batting, and the quilt top. Then you will learn the basics of the frame, loading your quilt with some hands on practice.

Advanced Frame Quilting Class

After at home practice of loading and basic stippling, which were covered in the Basic Frame Quilting classes, most novice machine quilters are anxious to learn some new techniques to make their quilts more interesting. The advanced TinLizzie 18S Frame Quilting Class picks up where our basic series left off. Stitching topics: Pantographs, borders, feathers, echo/fill work for appilques and ruler work. Bring your ideas and questions for a fun and informative day.

Darlene Orschek is well known as a local accomplished and award winning quilter.  She is active in the North East quilt guild and has developed a fine reputation as a long arm quilter and instructor.  We are delighted to have her share her talent with you.  She is offering a variety of quilting classes for all skill levels from the beginner quilter to the more experienced. 

Following her recent trunk show, we have selected the projects most requested for our summer schedule. 

Watermelon Runner

Everyone loved this cute table runner-perfect for a summer table setting.  Add some black satin stitch patterns from your machine for seeds and it will look good enough to eat.  This is a great beginner project, but fun for the more accomplished quilter as well.

Mystery Quilt

Learn rotary cutting, straight piecing (no points) and basic quilting techniques in this fun class.  You will start with 6 fat quarters, 2 3/4 yd. background fabric and 2 1/4 yd. fabric for border and binding, and make a 62″ x 78″ quilt.  Darlene will guide you through the construction and you will discover the mystery of your quilt at the end of class.  You will also receive the book “Take Two” at the end of class, so there is no peaking.

Snowman Runner

Darlene will show you how to simplify this pattern to make this cute runner fast and easy.  Add some applique and french knots from your machine and you have your first Christmas gift made!  This class is offered as a daytime and evening class.

Colorsplash Trip around the world

Darlene is offering this quilt for those who are ready for something a bit more extraordinary.  Learn colorsplash techniques with a quick piecing method, using 20 different fabrics to make your own “watercolor” quilt in your choice of sizes.  This 3-session class will meet one Saturday/month July-September.

Class fee:  $45 plus book (Colorsplash Trip around the world-$12)

This is a fun and fast table runner (21 1/2″ x 57 1/2″)-easy enough for beginners, but interesting enough for the accomplished quilter.  Choose a focus fabric and 3 complimentary fabrics and you’re on your way.  Darlene is offering a daytime and evening class.
